Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaga!

Ohhhhhhhhhhh mas que peeeeeeeeena, o Porto perdeu em casa eheheheh :P


"Super Liga: FC Porto derrotado pelo Sporting de Braga por 3-1

O FC Porto perdeu esta noite frente ao Sporting de Braga, por 3-1, em encontro da 19ª jornada da SuperLiga, disputado no Estádio do Dragão. Os bracarenses ascenderam assim à liderança provisória, após justa vitória no Porto.

O conjunto ''arsenalista'', que esta época ainda não perdeu em quatro jogos com os ''grandes'', é o sexto líder do campeonato, mas esta é a primeira a vez na história que o comanda na segunda volta.

Uma exibição pautada pelo rigor, serenidade, determinação e inteligente ocupação dos espaços, em que cada jogador conhecia perfeitamente a sua missão, esteve na base de um triunfo em casa do bicampeão nacional, uma vitória que podia ter acontecido por números históricos.

João Tomás (dois golos, aos 22 e 76 minutos) e Wender (um tento, aos 42) materializaram o triunfo do Sporting de Braga, apoiado de princípio a fim por uma numerosa e incansável claque. O golo portista foi apontado por Diego, aos 34 minutos, na marcação de uma grande penalidade.

O FC Porto, que de equipa pouco ou nada tem, voltou a ''brindar'' os seus adeptos com o habitual na era de um treinador com cada vez menor margem de manobra, Víctor Fernández: falta de um modelo de jogo, os descrentes e confusos atletas não sabem a sua missão em campo e os actos de indisciplina proliferam - cartão vermelho directo para Maniche, aos 85 minutos.

O resultado desta realidade salda-se por três derrotas nos últimos cinco jogos em casa, um ''recorde'' que já faz estragos, conforme se pôde constatar nos milhares de lenços brancos e apupos dirigidos ao treinador e equipa no final.

SEGREDOS DO MAR

Quando chega o verão, nós, humanos, nos sentimos atraídos pelo mar.

Multidões se reúnem nas praias buscando um contacto com as ondas do mar que nos proporcionam prazer e descanso. Porém, o caminhar do ser humano deixa sua trilha fatal nas areias da praia.

Milhões de sacolas de nylon e plásticos de todo o tipo são largados na costa e o vento e as marés se encarregam de arrastá-los para o mar.

Uma bolsa de nylon pode navegar várias dezenas de anos sem se degradar.

As tartarugas marinhas confundem-nas com as medusas e as comem, afogando-se na tentativa de engoli-las. Milhares de golfinhos também se confundem e morrem afogados. Eles não têm capacidade para reconhecer os lixos dos humanos, simplesmente, se confundem, até porque, "tudo o que flutua no mar se come".

A tampa plástica de uma garrafa, de maior consistência do que a sacola plástica, pode permanecer inalterada, navegando nas águas do mar por mais de um século.

O Dr. James Ludwing, que estava estudando a vida do albatroz na ilha de Midway, no Pacífico, a muitas milhas dos centros povoados, fez uma descoberta espantosa. Quando começou a recolher o conteúdo do estômago de oito filhotes de albatrozes mortos, encontrou: 42 tampinhas plásticas de garrafa, 18 acendedores e restos flutuantes que, em sua maioria, eram pequenos pedaços de plástico. Esses filhotes haviam sido alimentados por seus pais que não conseguiram fazer a distinção dos desperdícios no momento de escolher o alimento.


A próxima vez em que Você for à sua praia preferida, talvez encontre na areia lixo que outra pessoa ali deixou.

Não foi lixo deixado por Você, porém, é SUA PRAIA, é o SEU MAR, é o SEU MUNDO e Você deve fazer algo por eles!!.


Muitos pais jogam com seus filhos o jogo de: "vamos ver quem consegue juntar a maior quantidade de plásticos?" como forma de uma inesquecível lição de ecologia.

Outros, em silêncio, recolhem um plástico abandonado e levam-no para suas casas, com restos do mar. Você os verá passarem sorridentes, sabendo que salvaram um golfinho.

A minha melhor amiga mora na Figueira da Foz. Passou 5 anos em Braga, 4 dos quais na mesma casa que eu e por isso suponho que o nosso laço é bastante forte.

Como é óbvio, faz-me imensa falta, pelo que, de vez em quando, nos telefonamos sendo que o mais habitual é ficarmos mais de 1 hora ao telefone.

Ontem liguei-lhe, estava no Feira Nova a comprar umas coisas que faltavam lá em casa.

Às tantas, ao passar pela Bata que ainda está em saldos, decidi entrar para dar uma cuscadela.

Estavamos a discutir o conceito de especulação imobiliária, quando já depois de ter dado a volta à loja, detenho-me em frente à banca dos sapatos em saldo, a interrompo e digo:

"Ok, explica-me lá uma coisa!"

É nesse momento que a empregada da Bata, muito rapidamente responde com um ar atónito:

"Sim?!!!!"

Levantando os olhos, tenho não uma, não duas... mas as três empregadas da Bata com um ar absolutamente aterrado a olhar para mim, em completo suspense.

O que é que aconteceu?

Eu estava a falar de auricular, que entre cabelo e chapéu deve ter ficado oculto...

Logo, o que as pobres raparigas viram a entrar a entrar na sua loja deve ter sido uma rapariga mais ou menos da dade delas, completamente tresloucada, de chapéu preto (finalmente comprei 1 chapéu, Calisto! ehehehe), pasta num ombro, vassoura e saco na mão oposta, que falava sozinha, quem sabe com as vozes da cabeça dela, sem se preocupar com o facto de as outra pessoas estarem a ouvir ou não LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Isto só vendo o ar de alívio delas quando lhes mostrei o auricular é que dá para perceber...

Claro que desatamos as 4 às gargalhadas e eu sai da loja para casa, naquela de "se calhar é melhor...": É que uma psicóloga a falar sozinha em público é capaz de ser mau para o negócio...

Moral da história?

De repente, lá pelas três horas da manhã, escutam ruídos fora do quarto.
A mulher se sobressalta e totalmente espantada diz para o homem:
- Aaaaaiiiiiii, deve ser o meu marido!!!
O cara se levanta espantadíssimo e peladão, pula como pode pela janela

Uma vez que estão sempre a pedir-me para explicar o que é a sequência de Fibonacci, sempre que falo no Nautilus (parece que afinal nem toda a gente leu "O Código Da Vinci" de Dan Brown ehehehhe) e eu acabo invariavelmente por dar uma explicação vaga sobre a reprodução dos coelhos e as sequências logarítmicas das espirais nas conchas... Cá vai:
The Fibonacci Sequence



edieval mathematician and businessman Fibonacci (Leonardo Pisano) posed the following problem in his treatise Liber Abaci (pub. 1202):

How many pairs of rabbits will be produced in a year, beginning with a single pair, if in every month each pair bears a new pair which becomes productive from the second month on?


It is easy to see that 1 pair will be produced the first month, and 1 pair also in the second month (since the new pair produced in the first month is not yet mature), and in the third month 2 pairs will be produced, one by the original pair and one by the pair which was produced in the first month. In the fourth month 3 pairs will be produced, and in the fifth month 5 pairs. After this things expand rapidly, and we get the following sequence of numbers:


1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, ...


This is an example of a recursive sequence, obeying the simple rule that to calculate the next term one simply sums the preceding two:

F(1) = 1
F(2) = 1
F(n) = F(n – 1) + F(n – 2)

Thus 1 and 1 are 2, 1 and 2 are 3, 2 and 3 are 5, and so on.This simple, seemingly unremarkable recursive sequence has fascinated mathematicians for centuries. Its properties illuminate an array of surprising topics, from the aesthetic doctrines of the ancient Greeks to the growth patterns of plants (not to mention populations of rabbits!). Consider, for example, the following diagram:


Here we have taken squares with sides whose lengths correspond to the terms of the Fibonacci sequence, and arranged them in an “outwardly spiraling” pattern. Notice that the rectangles which result at each stage are all roughly the same shape, that is, that the ratio of length to width seems to “settle down” as we build the pattern outward. Notice also that the ratio of length to width is at every step the ratio of two successive terms of the Fibonacci sequence, that is, the ratio of the greater one to the lesser. These ratios may be thought of as forming a new sequence, the sequence of ratios of consecutive Fibonacci numbers:


This sequence converges, that is, there is a single real number which the terms of this sequence approach more and more closely, eventually arbitrarily closely. We may discover this number by exploiting the recursive definition of the Fibonacci sequence in the following way. Let us denote the nth term of the sequence of ratios by xn, that is,

This is a simple equation to solve for x: it is really a quadratic equation, and its positive root is the value we are looking for:


This number was known to the ancient Greeks and was called by them the Golden Mean. It is usually denoted by the Greek letter f (phi), and sometimes by m (mu). They believed that the proportion f:1 was the most most pleasing, indeed the aesthetically perfect proportion, and all of their artwork, sculpture, and especially architecture made use of this proportion. A rectangle whose sides had this proportion was called the Golden Rectangle. (And that is the shape being more and more closely approximated by our “spiralling rectangles” above.)Whether or not you agree with the Greeks’ aesthetic judgment, it's a safe bet that Nature herself does:


The growth of this nautilus shell, like the growth of populations and many other kinds of natural “growing,” are somehow governed by mathematical properties exhibited in the Fibonacci sequence. And not just the rate of growth, but the pattern of growth. Examine the crisscrossing spiral seed pattern in the head of a sunflower, for instance, and you will discover that the number of spirals in each direction are invariably two consecutive Fibonacci numbers.The Fibonacci sequence makes its appearance in other ways within mathematics as well. For example, it appears as sums of oblique diagonals in Pascal’s triangle:

Esta semana passei uns dias de cão (cadela?!!!) com uma crise existencial... Que não devia nunca ter mudado de curso, que não devia estar nesta área da Psicologia... Que só tinha feito escolhas e investimentos errados, etc, etc...

Valeu-me a Oprah (LOL) e os meus amigos queridos com quem posso ter discussões metafísicas mesmo sem ter dores no metatarso (esta é a chamada "piada Morgadinha" - e depois querem que a classe médica seja levada a sério... yeah right!)... Em especial a Dora, o Nuno e o Miguel que foram quem me aturou mais, acerca deste tema. THANK YOU!!!

The Twelve Days of Christmas are probably the most misunderstood part of the church year among Christians who are not part of liturgical church traditions. Contrary to much popular belief, these are not the twelve days before Christmas, but in the Western Church are the twelve days from Christmas until the beginning of Epiphany (January 6th; the 12 days count from December 25th until January 5th).
The origin of the Twelve Days is complicated, and is related to differences in calendars, church traditions, and ways to observe this holy day in various cultures (see Christmas). In the Western church, Epiphany is traditionally celebrated as the time the three Wise Men or Magi arrived to present gifts to the young Jesus (Matt. 2:1-12). In some cultures, especially Hispanic and Latin American culture, January 6th is observed as Three Kings Day, or simply the Day of the Kings (Span: la Fiesta de Reyes, el Dia de los Tres Reyes, or el Dia de los Reyes Magos; Dutch: Driekoningendag). Even though December 25th is celebrated as Christmas in these cultures, January 6th is often the day for giving gifts. In some places it is traditional to give Christmas gifts for each of the Twelve Days of Christmas. Since Eastern Orthodox traditions use a different religious calendar, they celebrate Christmas on January 7th and observe Epiphany or Theophany on January 19th.

By the 16th century, some European and Scandinavian cultures had combined the Twelve Days of Christmas with (sometimes pagan) festivals celebrating the changing of the year. These were usually associated with driving away evil spirits for the start of the new year.
The Twelfth Night is January 5th, the last last day of the Christmas Season before Epiphany (January 6th), and often included feasting along with the removal of Christmas decorations. French and English celebrations of Twelfth Night included a King's Cake, remembering the visit of the Three Magi, and ale or wine (a King's Cake is part of the observance of Mardi Gras in French Catholic culture of the Southern USA). In some cultures, the King's Cake was part of the celebration of the day of Epiphany.
The popular song "The Twelve Days of Christmas" is usually seen as simply a nonsense song for children. However, some have suggested that it is a song of Christian instruction dating to the 16th century religious wars in England, with hidden references to the basic teachings of the Faith. They contend that it was a mnemonic device to teach the catechism to youngsters. The "true love" mentioned in the song is not an earthly suitor, but refers to God Himself. The "me" who receives the presents refers to every baptized person who is part of the Christian Faith. Each of the "days" represents some aspect of the Christian Faith that was important for children to learn.
However, many have questioned the historical accuracy of this origin of the song The Twelve Days of Christmas. It seems that some have made an issue out of trying to debunk this as an "urban myth," some in the name of historical accuracy and some out of personal agendas. There is little "hard" evidence available either way. Some church historians affirm this account as basically accurate, while others point out apparent historical discrepancies. However, the "evidence" on both sides is mostly in logical deduction and probabilities. One internet site devoted to debunking hoaxes and legends says that, "there is no substantive evidence to demonstrate that the song 'The Twelve Days of Christmas' was created or used as a secret means of preserving tenets of the Catholic faith, or that this claim is anything but a fanciful modern day speculation ..." What is omitted is that there is no "substantive evidence" that will disprove it either.
It is certainly possible that this view of the song is legendary or anecdotal. Without corroboration and in the absence of "substantive evidence," we probably should not take rigid positions on either side and turn the song into a crusade for personal opinions. That would do more to violate the spirit of Christmas than the song is worth. So, for the sake of historical accuracy, we need to acknowledge this uncertainty.
However, on another level, this uncertainty should not prevent us from using the song in celebration of Christmas. Many of the symbols of Christianity were not originally religious, including even the present date of Christmas, but were appropriated from contemporary culture by the Christian Faith as vehicles of worship and proclamation. Perhaps, when all is said and done, historical accuracy is not really the point. Perhaps more important is that Christians can celebrate their rich heritage, and God's grace, through one more avenue this Christmas. Now, when they hear what they once thought was a secular "nonsense song," they will be reminded in one more way of the grace of God working in transforming ways in their lives and in our world. After all, is that not the meaning of Christmas anyway?
